Carlos Vela's 2014/15 has got off to a tough start.
The Mexican was strongly linked with a summer return to former club Arsenal, who had an option to buy him back.
Real Sociedad bought out this clause, but are yet to really benefit from an improved side, instead struggling.
A key reason for that is the sale of top star Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid, while Vela has scored only one goal in seven games.
Speaking with Spanish newspaper AS, he concedes it has been a tough start, with Sociedad sitting 15th in La Liga - and only one win to their name.
He said: "If you're with so few points, it is because you are failing in something, even with minor details, when you play at a top levels, the penalty is very expensive, any mistake, you pay for.
"Obviously it's not the start that we would have liked, but there are many days ahead, a long time. Time to change course is in our hands.
"I am improving gradually. Obviously after a rough start, no preseason, many fitness problems which are now 100% cured, and every game I will be able to contribute more completely."
Just two seasons ago Sociedad finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League, and having kept Vela, the hope was they would be a shoe-in for a top 10 finish. The jury is still out on whether even that is possible.
