Newcastle United midfielder Ryan Taylor has continued his recovery as he featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old has been out of action for two years after twice rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee. The Englishman has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks and is edging closer to first-team football with Newcastle.
On Tuesday, Taylor played 70 minutes against Burnley at the Benton Training Centre as the Magpies won the match 4-1.
After the game, the former Wigan Athletic star, who can play both as a defender and a midfielder, took to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at inching closer to match fitness.
Newcastle are not in action until October 18 due to the two-week international break, but the Premier League clash against Leicester City at St. James’ Park may come a bit too soon for Taylor.
The Magpies have made a disappointing start to the 2014-15 season and are currently third from bottom in the league table with just four points from seven matches.
