Tottenham latest, Kaboul upbeat, defensive injury boost

Kaboul And Gallas

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul has listed two reasons for Spurs players and fans alike to be upbeat during this international break.

The club's captain has commented on the fact they go into the break on the back of the win, and are in amongst the teams contending for Champions League places at this early stage of the season.

He is quoted by the Tottenham website, saying: “We are delighted because of two things; firstly we’ve now got two weeks to prepare for Man City away and it’s always good to win before the international break which we didn’t against Liverpool and it killed us a little bit mentally.

“The second thing is that we were 12th before kick-off but now we’re sixth so we’re happy about that.”

Romania coach Victor Piturca has leapt to the defence of Vlad Chiriches, after he was criticised for his recent performances - notably handling the ball to give Besiktas the opportunity to equalise in their Europa League meeting.

Piturca is quoted in The Guardian, saying: “Well, he has made some mistakes but it’s normal to make mistakes and we shouldn’t dramatise it.”

There's a welcome injury boost for Tottenham as Kyle Walker is inching towards fitness following a long-term pelvis injury.

The London Evening Standard reports that the right-back could return to action as early as next month - but there has yet to resume full training. He was last in action for Tottenham against Benfica in the Europa League in March.
