Liverpool morning news, contract updates on key players, interest in Dutch star

Henderson Liverpool

A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.

There are two big stories involving contract talks with Liverpool that have emerged overnight - positive for one player, and not so good for the other.

Jordan Henderson is set to be offered a long-term contract at the club, with talks set to be a 'formality' according to the Daily Telegraph.

Daniel Sturridge has already signed a new long-term deal, whilst contract talks with Raheem Sterling are expected to get underway within the next fortnight according to the report. This follows speculation and several stories that some of Europe's biggest and richest clubs have been expressing their interest in the 19-year-old.

Henderson currently has two years left on his current deal, and a new contract will be seen as reward for his promotion to vice-captaincy.

Right-back Glen Johnson faces a more uncertain future according to the Liverpool Echo, with the 30-year-old looking increasingly likely to leave as a free agent in the summer.

He's quoted, saying: “It’s very quiet. I am just concentrating week by week and not thinking about it.

“Of course I want to stay. But like I say I just worry about this week, this week and then worry about next week, next week. That is how I live my life.”

Liverpool are set to battle it out with Manchester United for Netherlands under-21 midfielder Daley Sinkgraven according to the Daily Mirror.

The Heerenveen star is said to be available for £4 million with European giants such as Barcelona and Ajax also rumoured to be interested.
