West Bromwich Albion defender Cristian Gamboa is hoping to fulfil a dream after the international break by lining up against Manchester United at the Hawthorns on October 20.
Gamboa, however, will face competition from Andre Wisdom, on loan from Liverpool, after replacing him in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
He did his chances no harm at Anfield as he was part of a largely impressive Baggies unit who threatened to heap more misery on the Reds - who have endured a difficult start to the season.
Gamboa is quoted in the Birmingham Mail, saying he fulfilled a dream by making his debut at Anfield this weekend, and hopes to fulfil another one in the coming weeks.
He said: “It was really nice, especially because it came at Anfield, so for me it was a dream come true. Over the years I have seen a lot of players playing there.
“The result wasn’t good but we played good football and sometimes it’s like that. Sometimes you play good football and lose, but football always pays you back.
“Playing against Manchester United would be another dream I’ve had since I was a kid so hopefully I can play.”
The Baggies have played some confident football of late, and it must be great for manager Alan Irvine to have competition in the right-back area. Having won their previous three games before their defeat to Liverpool, he will have a confident dressing room determined to take a big scalp in the form of United at The Hawthorns.
Gamboa would be unlucky to lose his place in the starting line-up after an impressive display, and if Wisdom is selected ahead of him, it would be a pretty clear message as to who he thinks should be his number one right-back for now.
