There's still a gap between Juan Cuadrado's wage demands and Fiorentina's contract offer, but reports suggest progress is being made.
Cuadrado was the surprise star of last season for Fiorentina and has won the attention of several of Europe's top clubs, including Manchester United.
Despite incessant rumours during the transfer window, no offer ever materialised, so Fiorentina are now trying to improve Cuadrado's contract terms to make his happy where he is.
Talks have been ongoing for some time and several clauses have been agreed, such as a release clause, which will reportedly be set around the £27 million mark.
Fiorentina are said to be willing to offer around £1.5 million plus bonuses, but the two parties may meet somewhere in the middle.
Even if Cuadrado signs a new deal it doesn't mean that he won't be leaving the club at some stage, but the summer rather than January looks like a more likely time to move on.
