Former Arsenal defender has not suffered a major setback, claims Luis Enrique.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has moved to quell fears new signing Thomas Vermalen is injured again.
The 28-year-old has not played a single game since arriving from Arsenal in the summer, and was not called into Belgium's international squad.
Enrique maintains there is no serious issue regarding the defender, but that nobody wants to take any risks with his fitness.
He told reporters: "Vermaelen has not relapsed with an injury, he just felt the group training sessions were too much. It is nothing to worry about."
Vermaelen spent last week training by himself, and despite Enrique attempting to allay fears, it's tough for fans not to be a little concerned.
It makes sense that he stays away from international involvement for now, but at present Arsenal will be feeling they did well to cash in.
Manchester United were a side strongly linked with his signature, who have a number of defensive injuries of their own. It is perhaps a small piece of good news for Louis van Gaal that he may have got lucky by missing out on the centre-back.
