Stories about Arsenal, Manchester United and Leeds United all feature.

Another weekend of dramatic Premier League action has come to an end with Liverpool and Manchester United taking wins while Arsenal were well beaten against Chelsea.

There was also drama in the Championship as Leeds United continue their search for an elusive first win under new head coach Darko Milanic.

We’ve decided to take a look back at this day last year to see which stories were making the headlines.

‘Giroud talks down Ozil influence’

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud played down the significance of German midfielder Mesut Ozil in relation to his form.

By this point last year, Giroud had already bagged six goals with the £42.5 million arrival of Ozil suggested as the main reason.

“People will say it is easier to score for Arsenal now that Ozil is here. And when Giroud scores, it will be because Ozil was there. But I was already scoring before Ozil arrived,” said Giroud.

‘Pogba reveals why he left Manchester United’

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba revealed why he left Old Trafford.

The Frenchman was allowed to link up with Juventus in what is considered one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst ever sales.

“I said to Ferguson: 'Play me, and I will show you if I'm ready or not. Against Blackburn, on December 31, 2011, I was on the bench. Ferguson puts Rafael in midfield with Ji Sung Park. Then I gave up. I was really bummed,” he told Telefoot.

‘Derby fans tease Leeds supporters’

Leeds United were well beaten by Derby County over the corresponding weekend last year.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claims around 4000 Leeds fans made the trip to the game, which their side lost 3-1.

The manner of the defeat, according to the YEP, prompted Derby fans to sing ‘you’ll never beat the Derby’ throughout the game.
