Juan Mata has praised the performance of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea against Everton.
The Red Devils picked up a crucial win over the Toffees at the weekend, which elevated them into the top four, but it wouldn't have been possible without their Spanish stopper.
De Gea pulled off a string of brilliant saves to thwart Everton's attack and preserve the victory for his side and Mata has moved to publicly praise his goalkeeper today.
"We took the lead thanks to Ángel and then David started his amazing performance," he wrote in his blog. "First he saved Baines’ penalty. In the second half they tied the game and later on Radamel scored (I am very happy for you, the first one of many more goals, I’m sure).
"And then David did several extraordinary saves to keep the three points at home. What a superb performance! It seems his new haircut brought him luck…!"
De Gea's performances in United's goal over recent times have proved the critics that he had when he first arrived in the country wrong.
Many felt that he was too lightweight to make a successful stopper in the Premier League, but he is now one of the most vital players in Louis Van Gaal's squad.
After scooping the club's player of the season award last year, he has wasted no time impressing this time around either and he will be hoping to keep his fine form up for the rest of the campaign.
De Gea is likely to be busy behind what is a unstable United defence, but he has the ability to deny teams and the Red Devils have a solid foundation to build around with him in net.
Their attacking qualities are already paying dividends this campaign and now they are in the Champions League spots they will be determined not to let their lofty position slip.
