Leeds United fans react on Twitter to McDermott's Arsenal 'deal'

Arsenal are bringing in former Leeds manager in a scouting capacity.

Arsenal are reported to have struck a deal to add Brian McDermott into their senior set up.

The Mirror reported over the weekend that the former Leeds boss had struck a three-year agreement to join the club's scouting department.

He has not held a job since being dismissed by Leeds owner Massimo Cellino, although was linked over the past fortnight to managerial posts at Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers.

McDermott had a tough time at Elland Road, on and off the pitch, and crucially not all of his signings worked out - with £1 million addition Luke Murphy still to win fans over after a series of mixed performances.

The paper suggest McDermott begins his role in the coming weeks, allowing him plenty of time to recommend and assess targets ahead of the January transfer window.

Fans of his former club have had a mixed reaction to the news.

There are those who genuinely wish their former manager luck, after his honest efforts to cope with the on-off takeover talk in the background during his time at Leeds, a constant distraction, and then Cellino's eventual arrival and impact itself.

Then there are others who have reacted with a combination of bemusement and mirth, pointing out an at times less than stellar record in terms of his own signings at Leeds, ahead of taking up a position at Arsenal.

Here's a look at how it panned out via Twitter...
