Jan Vertonghen has singled Hugo Lloris out for praise for his impressive performances in recent weeks.
Lloris has played a starring role in all of Tottenham's latest fixtures, and Vertonghen has moved to publicly praise the goalkeeper after his outstanding performance in a 1-0 win over Southampton at the weekend.
“The clean sheet is a bonus for us and for Hugo Lloris, who has been outstanding in the last couple of games," he said to the club's official site. “I thought we had a good game.
"Southampton are a similar team to us but we defended very well. As we did against Arsenal, we showed what we are capable of as a team.
“The goal we conceded at the Emirates was a bit unlucky but this week we were strong at the back and the midfielders did a great job as well."
Lloris made a number of fine saves in the match, as he did in games against Besiktas and Arsenal in the previous week, and he is rapidly establishing himself as one of the finest stoppers in England.
Spurs have not made a brilliant start to this season, but they would have not picked up so many points if it wasn't for the Frenchman in between the sticks.
His reflexes and handling are second to none, and if he keeps up this form he will be crucial in Tottenham's chase of a top-four place.
Mauricio Pochettino's men are currently in sixth position, but they know there is room for improvement and they will be aiming to build on an encouraging result yesterday.
Southampton have proven tough to beat this year, and a victory in front of their own fans is sure to have relieved the pressure after they went the whole of September without win.
They will need all of the momentum from this triumph when they return to action, too, as they have a tough test against Manchester City as their next fixture in the league.
