A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Monday morning.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that Raheem Sterling will be offered a new, improved contract at the club after speculation linking him with a big-money move away from Anfield in recent weeks, along with reports the 19-year-old was stalling over a new deal.
A variety of newspapers have reported that Sterling will be tied down to a new deal, and Rodgers has said his emerging star is 'remarkably happy' on Merseyside.
He said: “The club is dealing with the agent so everything is calm and the boy is remarkably happy here and there are no secondary thoughts about anything else other than continuing to play for Liverpool.
“Also, he wants to continue with his development because he still has a lot of growth and for that the best place for him to be is here. His representatives respect that and the club respects that. So that will get sorted out in time.”
The Reds are targeting Lazio forward Keita Balde Diao according to the Daily Mirror. The 19-year-old is reported to be unhappy at not starting a game this season, and could be available for around £15 million.
Liverpool are going into the international break on the back of a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion following a difficult September. Jordan Henderson scored the winner at the weekend at Anfield and believes it could prove to be a turning point this season.
He's quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “Obviously we’ve missed a couple of big players and when they come back in after the internationals it will be a big boost for us. Hopefully there will be some big results coming up and we can kick on. We have a lot of quality in the group and things can change very quickly."
