Hull City defender Curtis Davies has been speaking after the Tigers’ 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Steve Bruce’s side desperately needed a win to get back on track, and they got just that courtesy of goals from Mohamed Diame and Nikica Jelavic.

In comments published by the Hull Daily Mail, Davies said, “It’s important to get a win going into Liverpool and Arsenal.

“We’re not defeatist saying we’re going to go and surrender but they are both going to be very tough so we’d rather get the points on the board to have something behind us.

“The clean-sheet is massive. We’re delighted with it.”

Hull have conceded far more goals than they would have liked in the early stages of the season, but they got back to their tight best against the Eagles, and now have nine points on the board going into the international break.

One player who particularly impressed at the weekend was Andy Robertson, and the Hull Daily Mail has published an enlightening feature on the young player’s emergence following an impressive showing in pre-season.

The article touches on comparisons with Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw, but for now Robertson should be left alone to develop his game under the canny tutelage of Bruce, and then who knows how far he could go…
