An update on Chelsea goalkeeper's condition following head injury.

Chelsea have released an update on the condition of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after the Belgian international suffered a blow to the head against Arsenal.

The Blues stopper was replaced by Petr Cech having played on for an additional 14 minutes after the clash with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.

He was later taken to hospital and the club have made an official statement to update fans on the player’s condition.

“Chelsea football club can confirm Thibaut Courtois went to hospital during our Premier League game against Arsenal yesterday for precautionary tests on a head injury” the statement reads.

“Those tests came back all clear. Thibaut was treated for a minor cut to his ear and was released from hospital last night. He is expected to report for international duty later this week.”

That is excellent news for Chelsea and their fans, who would have feared far worse having seen the collision and the player’s subsequent removal.

However it now appears he will join up with Belgium in due course, before being available when Chelsea get back to domestic matters.
