James Rodriguez says he wants to enjoy the same success at Real Madrid as Angel di Maria.
Real Madrid's James Rodriguez says he is honoured to be compared to Angel di Maria but insists comparisons are too early.
The Colombian World Cup star has two assists and two goals in eight games this season so far.
He was asked about how it feels potentially filling Di Maria's void at the club, he told AS:
"He's a great player, he did a lot here, he made history and has great respect.
"I've just got here, I want to make history here too."
His manager Carlo Ancelotti moved to play down comparison between the pair ahead of the weekend:
"James is not Di Maria. He is a different player with different qualities.
"I'm going to use him for that reason, not because I expect the same from him.
"Both players have different technical characteristics. I'm happy with him and he is focused on the job he has to do. He's doing well and will get better."
Di Maria has three goals and three assists in five games for Manchester United to date.
