6 Shots, 5 Key Passes: United’s summer signing stars against Everton

£59.7 million summer signing Angel di Maria stole the show in Manchester United's victory over Everton.

The Argentine international was the star of the show as United won three points at Old Trafford on Sunday. He struck home a gorgeous goal in the first half and then set up Radamel Falcao for the winner in the second period to give Louis van Gaal's side a much needed 2-1 win over the Toffees.

Di Maria has assured the club’s fans he won’t be cowed by the combative nature of English football, and this certainly proved the case against Roberto Martinez's Everton. He emerged as United’s main threat in this clash, posing a constant danger from an attacking midfield position, just as he has done since his initial arrival.

For United’s record £59.7 million buy, signed from Real Madrid in the summer, there have been few teething problems so far in adjusting to life in the English top flight. He has made a flying start to life at Old Trafford, and already he has been involved in six goals, having made just five appearances.

We witnessed another man-of-the-match performance from the 26-year-old in this clash. He managed six attempts at goal himself, two of which were on target, while fashioning five chances for his team-mates. He, of course, found the back of the net himself, before assisting Colombian international Falcao for his maiden Man United strike.

He caused tremendous problems all afternoon with his ability to drift past opposition defenders. He completed more dribbles than any other player in this clash - four of seven attempts - and found himself dispossessed on just one occasion. Utilising the space available to him on the left flank, he fired in an impressive 19 crosses, seven of which were accurate.

As always, he remained composed in control of the ball, maintaining his fantastic pass completion rate for the season. Of his 47 attempted passes, 87% were accurate. This is a very respectable total, especially considering 18 of these came in the attacking third - more than any of his United teammates.

It was another impressive performance from the Argentine, who looks set to continue his fantastic start to life in the Premier League.
