Spurs morning news: Early team news; ‘It gets harder to keep faith in players’ says Hodgson

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Southampton at White Hart Lane this afternoon, and the BBC reports Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose face late fitness tests ahead of the game.

The same news source claims Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will restore a number of players who were rested for the Europa League match last week.

For Southampton, Ronald Koeman may name the same side that overcame Queens Park Rangers last weekend.

In other news, England manager Roy Hodgson has been speaking about Andros Townsend and his lack of playing time at Spurs.

In quotes published by Sporting Life, Hodgson said of the winger, “Pochettino at the moment has decided that he does not want to use him, which is fine by me, but like all players he runs the risk that the less you play, it does get harder and harder for me to keep faith with players.”

Townsend has talent in abundance, but has failed to get back to his best following a breakthrough that now seems long ago.
