Manchester United's goals in their 2-1 victory over Everton may have come from Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, but it was ultimately David de Gea who proved to be the star of the show.
The Spanish international saved Leighton Baines' penalty in the first-half and pulled off a simply outstanding finger-tip save in the final moments, while his all-round composure ensured a nervy end did not lead to a disappointing result.
Van der Sar even joked that De Gea should have caught a shot he did well to get his fingers to and push over the bar, while he also took the time to hail Falcao's first goal for his loan club.
The result was vital for United and maintains their fine recent form at Old Trafford. It could also mark the real turning point in Louis van Gaal's reign, with Everton arguably deserving a point but leaving with nothing.
