PHOTOS: The reason Chelsea v Arsenal was delayed by 15 minutes

Arsenal fans let off a flare at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. Commonplace in Eastern Europe, but not accepted in the UK.

Arsenal took on Chelsea this afternoon in a Premier League fixture which could see The Blues go further ahead at the top of the Premier League - and once again get the better of Arsene Wenger under Jose Mourinho.

Of course that proved the case, as Arsenal were outdone by goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa at the Bridge, eventually.

Because the game started a little bit late.

There was confusion as the two teams were told the kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes. The decision was made after Arsenal fans reportedly set off a flare at the stadium, forcing security staff to check all of those Arsenal player's making their way to the ground with heightened rigour.

Pictures are now doing the rounds of Twitter highlighting the incident that delayed the game by 15 minutes and Arsenal could potentially face disciplinary action once again. They face UEFA charges over failure to control Galatasaray fans at The Emirates in midweek.

That came across after Turkish fans threw a number of flares onto the pitch during the game, only stopping when implored to by club captain Wesley Sneijder.

Wonder where Arsenal fans got the idea of flares from in the first place?
