Connor Wickham's second goal in all competitions this term got the ball rolling against Stoke City yesterday.
Sunderland fans have been left frustrated this season by the performance of the club's strikers. The frontmen have not managed to find the net for the club, well, at least until yesterday anyway.
They dispatched of Stoke City at the Stadium of Light after some brave managerial decisions by Gus Poyet.
He left £20 million pair Jack Rodwell and Adam Johnson on the bench and decided to stick two men up front in the form of Connor Wickham and Steven Fletcher.
It was a gamble that paid off.
Both players found the back of the net in the game, as Sunderland coasted to a 3-1 victory.
Steven Fletcher scored a brace while Wickham, widely credited with being the catalyst for Sunderland's relegation survival last term, got his first goal of the season.
It was trademark Wickham, tucking away a header from close-range to seal victory.
And he took to Twitter and Instagram after the game to show his happiness at bagging the opening goal.
