The Spanish international was superb once again for Manchester City yesterday.
Manchester City took on Aston Villa yesterday, and were given a real run for their money at Villa Park.
The champions needed victory to stay in touch with Chelsea, who could have opened a serious looking gap between the pair with victory over Arsenal later today.
For much of the game it looked like that would be the case, until goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero in the final ten minutes gave City a hard-fought and, ultimately, deserved victory.
But the star player on the day was once again David Silva.
The Spanish midfielder had such a good game that Jamie Carragher was forced to suggest he might be one of the greatest foreign imports in Premier League history. Based on recent evidence it is hard to disagree.
His first touch is simply masterful, his dribbling effortless and his eye for a pass as cutting as any of the best creators to have graced our shores.
Yesterday he continually found himself in possession of the ball and was a constant thorn in the side of the Aston Villa defensive force.
When he was eventually substituted for Jesus Navas in the 85th minute he looked disappointed with the decision and rightly so considering his performance.
But at least it gave the City fans, and the Villa fans in honesty, to appreciate his marvelling performance for everything it was.
Better in 2nd half but they love making us suffer. 2-0 in well deserved. @21LVA was immense and we can go into international break happy!!!— Chris Bailey (@baileymcfc) October 4, 2014
