Liverpool morning news: Free-agent trial; Reds’ interesting Balotelli tactic

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Victor Valdes has reportedly been offered a trial at Liverpool, and if all goes well the Spaniard will sign for the Merseyside club until the end of the season with the option for an extension thereafter.

That is the claim of the Sunday Express, which suggests that Liverpool are keen to ensure the goalkeeper has completely recovered from a serious injury suffered last season.

The same report claims that if the Valdes move fails to go through Liverpool could instead move for Real Madrid stopper Iker Casillas.

In other news, the Sunday People reports that the Reds have given Mario Balotelli a round-the-clock minder to ensure the Italian forward remains out of trouble.

The report claims the minder goes everywhere with Balotelli and even stays in the player’s north Liverpool mansion.

But if true, the tactic has not seen the player return to his best on the pitch, with the summer signing still struggling to score since arriving from Italy.
