This summer Celtic lost their manager Neil Lennon after the Irishman stepped down from the role. They quickly began their quest for a replacement and in the end decided to go with the impressive young Norwegian boss Ronny Deila.
He had led Stromsgodset to two successful relegation battles before he eventually pushed the club up the Norwegian Tippeligaen - until they eventually won their first ever title in 2013.
He signed a 12-month rolling deal to embark on his toughest challenge in football management yet. And he has certainly found it tough.
Today Celtic were defeated in Glasgow by Hamilton as the away side went to the top of the Scottish Premier League table. Celtic are now sixth in the table, six points behind Hamilton in a league that does not contain their fierce rivals Rangers.
Their poor form has not been confined to the domestic league.
In Europe they have been poor. They were thrashed by Polish side Legia Warsaw in Champions League qualifying, only earning a reprieve thanks to them playing an ineligible player.
But after getting a second chance they went out to NK Maribor of Slovenia to enter the Europa League - this is not what Celtic fans are accustomed to.
Now it appears patience is running out with their new manager.
It took him two seasons to get things together at former club Godset but he had that luxury. Celtic will simply not stand a silverware-less campaign, let alone two, especially without Rangers to battle with.
Indeed, it seems as though some of the fans have finally given up on Deila, judging by the general consensus on Twitter this afternoon.
Here are some of the best reactions to the Hamilton defeat...
No good enough, fair play hamilton tho they deserved something celtic didnt deserve anything the ref was poor tho— jake keir (@tehhhh_jake) October 5, 2014
Tactically naive, bonkers substitutions, poor motivator, piss poor results. Ronny's Celtic.Sometimes you just know it's never going to work.— Bon Scott (@BonScott_1) October 5, 2014
I'm not normally one to call for a managers head this early in his Celtic career, but I'm afraid there are just too many poor results. Awful— Joseph McKenna (@Jinky20073) October 5, 2014
Celtic will be lucky to win the league the way we are playing. #DeilaOut— Michael McClorey (@MichaelMcClorey) October 5, 2014
I mean I'd like for Deila to work out too but equally would like to see him fired before we've completely blown the league.— Jean-Luc Picaresque (@Mikesomatosis) October 5, 2014
I've given them a chance now it's time for Deila & Collins OUT OUT OUT— John McGuire (@Magwa_1888) October 5, 2014
There's no point being able to run all day if it takes all day and night to score. #DeilaOut— Jamie McCreadie (@Jamespatmac) October 5, 2014
Ronny Deila has won 7 out of 17 games as Celtic manager. Two of they wins were against a part time team from Iceland.— Stephen McGinn (@Steph67Lisboa) October 5, 2014
I actually like Deila's long term vision. But without results to back it up the less credible he appears. The quicker patience will run out.— keith jackson (@tedermeatballs) October 5, 2014
These results have been unacceptable tbh I've been trying to stick with Deila for aslong as possible but losing patience now— Paul (@PaulMc1995) October 5, 2014
It's time Deila was sacked. After the Inverness and Maribor debacle that was the last straw for me.— Ryan (@Ryan_1888_) October 5, 2014
