Celtic fans call for Deila to be sacked on Twitter after Hamilton loss

Celtic Champions League

Ronny Deila's position at Celtic seems in threat after a poor start in Scottish football.

This summer Celtic lost their manager Neil Lennon after the Irishman stepped down from the role. They quickly began their quest for a replacement and in the end decided to go with the impressive young Norwegian boss Ronny Deila.

He had led Stromsgodset to two successful relegation battles before he eventually pushed the club up the Norwegian Tippeligaen - until they eventually won their first ever title in 2013.

He signed a 12-month rolling deal to embark on his toughest challenge in football management yet. And he has certainly found it tough.

Today Celtic were defeated in Glasgow by Hamilton as the away side went to the top of the Scottish Premier League table. Celtic are now sixth in the table, six points behind Hamilton in a league that does not contain their fierce rivals Rangers.

Their poor form has not been confined to the domestic league.

In Europe they have been poor. They were thrashed by Polish side Legia Warsaw in Champions League qualifying, only earning a reprieve thanks to them playing an ineligible player.

But after getting a second chance they went out to NK Maribor of Slovenia to enter the Europa League - this is not what Celtic fans are accustomed to.

Now it appears patience is running out with their new manager.

It took him two seasons to get things together at former club Godset but he had that luxury. Celtic will simply not stand a silverware-less campaign, let alone two, especially without Rangers to battle with.

Indeed, it seems as though some of the fans have finally given up on Deila, judging by the general consensus on Twitter this afternoon.
