Wolverhampton Wanderers had made a great start to life back in the Championship, taking the form that saw them coast to the League One title into the new season with five wins from their opening eight games of the campaign, losing just once in that time.
Yet spirits have been dampened around Molineux over the past week, having conceded an injury time equaliser against Reading last Sunday and being thumped at home by Huddersfield Town in midweek. A response was need as Uwe Rosler's Wigan side travelled to the West Midlands for today's clash.
Wolves struck first as midfielder Dave Edwards gave Kenny Jackett's side the lead after half an hour, but James Perch brought the Latics level just two minutes later. Wigan then went ahead on the stroke of half time as former West Brom striker Marc-Antoine Fortune returned to the Black County with a goal to take the lead.
But Wolves recovered in the second half with Bakary Sako turning home from Scott Golbourne's corner to rescue a point, leading Wolves in seventh place in the Championship table with 19 points from 11 games.
Well it was a better performance than Wednesdays. 8 goals against in 3 games is a bit scary but I'm sure that will get sorted.#wwfc— Peter Barker (@wolfstain3) October 4, 2014
Hadn't been impressed by Tommy Rowe until today. He put in a cracking performance #wwfc— Luke Bowdler (@LukeBowdler) October 4, 2014
Edwards and Dicko's work rate today was superb, McDonald has found his game again. Also think Tommy Rowe had a pretty decent game too. #wwfc— Official Wolves Fans (@WeLoveWolves) October 4, 2014
Tommy Rowe man of the match for me today, calm on the ball and kept it simple. #wwfc— Wolves Pictures (@WolvesPictures) October 4, 2014
Decent point, should have got the win today though. Need to get back to winning ways. Not looking bad so far this season though! #WWFC— Matty Gough. (@Matty_WWFC) October 4, 2014
Much better today. Two silly goals to concede again though. #WWFC— Daniel Clayton (@Clayton_330) October 4, 2014
I mean we are 2pts off top. Did anybody actaully think we would have been this close to the leaders? I for one didnt. Perspective #wwfc— Jozza (@jontybird_9) October 4, 2014
we were exceptional 2nd half today intro of Henry made the difference! As long as fans remember where we are it will be a good season! #wwfc— Scott (@scottmunk) October 4, 2014
Another game another disappointing result, a points a point but we should of killed that game about twenty mins into the second half #wwfc— Zaz (@Zander_Eatock) October 4, 2014
