United morning news: ‘Leaving Old Trafford is definitely not the end,’ says on-loan star

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United fans are waking up this morning to the rather strange rumour that the club has turned its attention from Cristiano Ronaldo to his Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale.

Despite starring for the La Liga giants and securing his place as one of the best attacking players in Europe as a result, the Daily Star claims the Welshman has not settled in the side this season and United are considering a mega-bid to bring him back to England.

No, we cannot see this one happening either!

In other news, Tom Cleverley has been speaking about his loan move from United to Aston Villa, along with his former teammate Danny Welbeck’s permanent move to Arsenal.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Cleverley said, “Leaving United is definitely not the end. We both came through the academy and were living the dream at the team we grew up at.

“But United is not the be all and end all. I’m sure we’re both happy to be on the pitch and playing 90 minutes every week.”

Cleverley is on loan at Villa until January, at which point Paul Lambert’s side has the option to make the move permanent. But whatever the midfielder’s hopes for the future he will surely just want to play as much football as he can in the interim, impressing as much as possible and seeing where that leads.
