Leeds United manager Darko Milanic has responded to speculation that the club’s owner Massimo Cellino may play a part in team selection.
In comments published by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the new Leeds boss said, “If you have a president like our president, one man, it’s normal that people or (the media) talk about this. It’s not my problem. It’s my decision.
When asked if he and Cellino discussed team affairs in detail, the former Sturm Graz head coach replied, “Not in detail. That is not the job of Mr Cellino.”
Milanic is yet to oversee a win since taking charge of Leeds last month. The Whites had climbed up the table in impressive fashion under the stewardship of caretaker boss Neil Redfearn, but now it is up to Milanic to ultimately get the club back where they belong – the Premier League.
For now his task is to simply ensure they have a good Championship campaign, but having responded to the previous speculation surrounding team affairs, it appears Leeds have a man who knows his own mind, and is in full control when it comes to picking the players tasked with earning him a first win.
