Arsenal may be heading into the London derby on the back of a comprehensive victory, but they will be no match for Chelsea.
That’s the opinion of former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen, who backs Jose Mourinho’s side to win the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
‘The Gunners were blitzed 6-0 in the corresponding fixture last season and continue to struggle against the very best teams’, the ex-England international wrote on Betvictor.com.
‘I have said previously how highly I rate Danny Welbeck as a central striker and his Champions League hat-trick will have done his confidence the world of good. That said Galatasaray are not Chelsea and I expect the Gunners’ woes against the very top sides to continue at the Bridge’.
Arsenal will indeed head into the encounter as ‘underdogs’ as Chelsea will be expected to pick up maximum points. The Blues have been the best and most impressive team in the Premier League so far this season.
Mourinho’s side are also unbeaten in the league and are many football followers’ favourites to win the title.
However, Arsenal cannot be written off just yet. The Gunners’ 4-1 victory over Galatasaray at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League in midweek will have certainly enhanced their confidence.
Danny Welbeck, who was signed from Manchester United on transfer deadline day for a reported fee of £16 million, scored a hat-trick against the Turkish giants and will be a threat to the Chelsea defenders.
