Leeds United morning update: Early team news; rival boss on derby match

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United take on Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday lunchtime in the Championship’s first match of the weekend.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Darko Milanic could give a debut to on-loan Brazilian Adryan while Gaetano Berardi is also back for the Whites after a two-match suspension.

Wednesday could see three first-team stars return in the forms of Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee and Tom Lees.

In other news, Wednesday boss Stuart Gray has been speaking ahead of this afternoon’s match, revealing how important it is to win against their local rivals.

“Of course it means a lot to be Yorkshire’s top club,” Gray told the Star. “We wanted to finish the top club in the Championship last season and they (Leeds) finished above us.”

Milanic will be hoping that is the case again this season, and after Leeds’ disappointing defeat last weekend and subsequent draw with Reading it is time he got his first win on the board since taking over from caretaker boss Neil Redfearn.
