Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has explained why he got so infuriated about Raheem Sterling’s contract on Friday morning.
The former Reds star took to social networking site Twitter to slam the Liverpool winger’s agent and asked him to ‘shut up’.

Although Sterling’s current contract runs out in June 2017, there have been suggestions that he should be given a new deal.
The 19-year-old is one of the most promising young players in Europe, and there have been some reports that Spanish giants Real Madrid are keep tabs on him.
On Friday morning, it emerged that Liverpool were ‘fighting’ to convince Sterling to agree on a new deal, leaving Carragher infuriated.
The story came out just after Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to FC Basel in Switzerland in the Champions League and before Saturday’s Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion at Anfield.
And it was the timing that made Carragher go wild on Twitter.
‘The reason for my fury was the timing of this particular story’, the 36-year-old wrote in the Daily Mail. ‘Whoever has let it be known that Sterling is in no rush to commit his future to Liverpool has made a massive mistake. No thought has been given to the big picture.
‘If anyone around me had put out a story like that about me during my career, never mind the day before a game, our relationship would have been over. My agent, certainly, wouldn’t have done anything like that and I would never have allowed that, even if he had wanted to’.
