Brasil aqui vamos nós !!! Brazil here We go !!! #happy #home #family #friends
Liverpool defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva has taken advantage of the international break by returning to his homeland for a short break.
Excited ahead of his trip, he posted a photo on his official Instagram page, saying: “Brasil aqui vamos nós !!! Brazil here We go !!! #happy #home #family #friends”
The 27-year-old has struggled to make an impact so far this season, starting just two Premier League games for the Reds with his last ending in disappointment as he was replaced at half-time in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham United.
Injuries have often held Lucas back over the past 18 months and his initial set-back was felt as Brendan Rodgers struggled to compensate for his layoff.
Retired England international Gerrard, however, dropped back into a more defensive role and the form of Coutinho and Sterling further forward meant it was tough for Lucas to win his place back in the side.
As a result, his involvement in on the international scene has also been limited and the former Gremio star faced the difficult reality of missing out on representing his nation at the World Cup in Brazil.
Now with new boss Dunga in charge, a fellow defender come defensive midfielder by trade, Lucas could have been forgiven for thinking he may have a shot at returning to the Seleção Brasileira.
However, the upcoming ties against Argentina and Japan have come to soon and the chance to add his 24 international caps will have to wait.
