Gary Neville: Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas can be as good as Manchester United legend Paul Scholes

Manchester United legend Gary Neville claims that Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas can reach the level of Paul Scholes.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed that the best player he has ever played with is Paul Scholes.

The two Englishmen played together for over 20 years, winning the Premier League eight times, the FA Cup thrice and the Champions League twice.

Neville and Scholes were part of the fabled ‘Class of ‘92’, and are considered two of the greatest players of all time.

For ex-England international defender Neville, Scholes is the best player he has ever played with.

‘When I'm asked to choose the best player I played with throughout my career I come up with Paul Scholes’, the 39-year-old wrote in The Telegraph.

‘Why does Scholes stand alone? When I started to look into total passing and touches in matches over the past three or four seasons, the top 10 names point to a correlation between those players and team success’.

Neville seems to be in awe of the passing ability of Scholes and believes that Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas can reach the level of his former teammate.

‘He can keep the ball moving, he sees round the corner, he has the intelligence and courage to play when the game is tight, or at its fiercest’, wrote the Englishman.

‘In Cesc Fabregas they have a player who is not just a provider for Diego Costa or a goalscorer but can elevate himself into the Pirlo, Schweinsteiger, Xavi, Paul Scholes bracket, as architects of elite football matches’.

Fabregas is one of the best midfielders in the world and has been in sensational form so far this season, as proved by his Premier League stats below.
