The future of Dani Alves has taken another twist, with reports in Spain claiming Barcelona want to renew his deal.
Alves caused a stir this week, when he claimed at the end of the season he wanted to move to the Premier League, reported The Mail.
The multiple-time La Liga champion is actually very close to agreeing a one-year contract extension with Barcelona, taking him up until June 2016.
Spanish newspaper Sport report: "The renewal of Brazilian defender is already agreed in fundamental terms, although it is true that it is important to be finalised for real."
The paper speculate that Alves' comments were to apply pressure on Barcelona, with the 31-year-old keen to stay at the club, providing he feels wanted.
Barcelona signed right-back Douglas this summer, and were linked with Juan Cuadrado, but with a transfer ban in place, should their new signing not step up, allowing Alves to move next summer could be a bad move.
Alves has played six games for Barcelona this season, with two assists to his name.
