Wolverhampton Wanderers host Wigan Athletic this afternoon, as the hosts look to climb back into the play-off places and the visitors attempt to get clear of the relegation zone.

Wolves have impressed so far this season and despite being seventh as things stand they are only two points off top-spot, proving just how tight this year’s Championship is likely to be.

As for Wigan, it was not supposed to be like this, and yet they have collected nine points from their opening 10 league games, leaving them perilously close to the bottom three.

The two sides last clashed in the Premier League in 2012, with the Latics winning 3-2. But Wolves' recent defeat to Huddersfield is likely to have motivated them to get over that shock as soon as possible, and what better way than with a home clash against a struggling opponent? Not that it is always that easy…
