CONFIRMED: Sunderland and Stoke City line-ups

Here is how Sunderland and Stoke City will line up for this afternoon’s Premier League match:

Sunderland starting XI: Mannone, Jones, van Aanholt, Vergini, O'Shea, Cattermole, Larsson, Gomez, Buckley, Wickham, Fletcher

Sunderland subs: Pantilimon, Bridcutt, Brown, Rodwell, Johnson, Altidore, Mavrias

Stoke City starting XI: Begovic, Bardsley, Shawcross, Wilson, Muniesa, Nzonzi, Whelan, Adam, Arnautovic, Moses, Crouch

Stoke City subs: Sorensen, Pieters, Huth, Ireland, Walters, Assaidi, Bojan

Sunderland take on Stoke City at the Stadium of Light today, with the Black Cats still searching for their first league win of the season.

Gus Poyet’s side have drawn five of their opening six matches but they will want to turn those draws into wins as they attempt to climb up the table.

Stoke are currently just one place outside the top-half and have impressed this season under Mark Hughes. That said, the Potters will have to do without striker Mame Biram Diouf who is unavailable with a hamstring injury suffered against Newcastle United on Monday.

But if Stoke want to continue their fine form they will have to overcome recent history, having never previously won a Premier League match on Wearside.

With Sunderland and Stoke in the bottom five in terms of goals scored in the league so far, do not expect a high-scoring encounter.
