Former Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood believes Tottenham did not deserve any more than a draw against Besiktas.

Speaking as a pundit for ITV4 for the Europa League clash, after the game he said, leading his analysis:

"It's disappointing but they was outplayed. You have to say Besiktas are a very good side and they created chances.

"On another night, if Hugo Lloris was not so good, Demba Ba's finishing is a bit better, they could have been out of sight by half time and it could have been serious for Tottenham."

Besiktas striker Demba Ba had nine shots on goal, landing only three on target, scoring the late penalty.

The away side had a total of 24 attempts to Tottenham's nine, but managed only six on target to Spurs three, in the 1-1 draw.

Sherwood went onto suggest this side, under new coach Mauricio Pochettino, have a mindset which his team last season did not have.

"They stuck at it, there are different ways to win football matches and get results.

"They are resilient, they have a resilience about them now.

"The point could be vital at the end."

Sherwood's Spurs were rolled over too easily last season away at Liverpool and Chelsea, and just like they dug into claim a point away at rivals Arsenal, they can be pleased at the way, overall, they dug in and look to be showing more fight under Pochettino.
