Federico Fazio has singled Tottenham Hotspur goalscorer Harry Kane out for praise after his performance against Besiktas last night.
Kane scored Spurs' only goal of the match against their Turkish opponents and his overall display clearly impressed the new arrival from Spain.
Fazio, who played at the heart of the side's defence in the match, was tested to his limits with the Turkish side having the better of the overall play, but he stood strong in the face of a barrage.
Besiktas could consider themselves very unlucky not to have grabbed more than a point from White Hart Lane, but Kane's goal was well-taken and earned his side a point.
"It was a good performance, we did a good job, but I’m not happy with the result because we wanted to win,” Fazio said to the club's official site.
“Harry was very good today, but so was all the team. We had a good attitude and it was only just before the end when we conceded the penalty that we slipped up."
Spurs have only managed to collect two points from their opening European fixtures and they will know that they need to improve if they are to meet their expectations.
The side have targeted reaching the advanced stages of the Europa League, but they will need to ensure that they start racking up the wins as the group stages progresses.
In the Premier League, too, Spurs need to find the winning formula after what has been a disappointing start.
The side went throughout the whole of September without winning a game in league action and Fazio says that his full focus is on picking up the victory in the Lilywhites' weekend fixture.
“We now need to think about Sunday when we play against Southampton," he said. "We must try to win this game.”
