Barcelona’s new golden boy Munir El Haddadi has been at the forefront of the Catalan club’s team selection this season and his impact hasn’t gone unnoticed.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, as reported by talkSPORT, agents acting on behalf of Chelsea and Arsenal have already set the wheels in motion to try to lure the attacker away from the Nou Camp, as well as rumours that Real Madrid were unsuccessful in an attempt to sign the player from their La Liga rivals earlier in the year.
The 19-year-old’s ability to step-up into first team football was evident just 22 minutes into his debut when he rattled the crossbar. He started well in the second-half too, and after just a minute he collected the ball off Rakitic and struck home with elegance.
‘’It came because if you keep losing your marker, sometimes you get there,’’ said El Haddadi. ‘’I saw the goalkeeper was off his line and just chipped the ball.’’
A composed and humble response considering he had just scored on his debut for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Barcelona are, unsurprisingly, reportedly keen to keep the talent in Spain and are aware of the interest in their young player. The report states that they will seek to secure his long-term future before the end of the season, with contract talks on hold until shortly after the New Year.
His reported current release clause – £9.4 million – is likely to be the biggest change in a potential new deal as they could raise it above the unilaterally buyout option of £28 million in order to ward off any future advances, either from the Premier League or elsewhere.
