Liverpool fans react to Sturridge's new deal on Twitter: 'Finally some good news!'

Giant Anfield Flag

Reds supporters were over the moon after their star striker signed a new long-term deal at Anfield.

Liverpool fans have been looking for something to smile about for a while now.

Finally, however, some good news has arrived, it seems, with Daniel Sturridge signing a new long-term deal at Anfield yesterday.

The 25-year-old has been out injured in recent weeks and his absence has been hugely felt by Brendan Rodgers' under-performing squad.

It appears the England striker is still Liverpool's leading light even without kicking a ball, though, with Sturridge putting pen to paper for a new contract that is believed to have increased his wages significantly.

Upon signing, the forward told Liverpool's official website: "It feels great. It's a big, big day in my life to commit to this club and to give the club my best years, which are ahead of me.

"I am thankful for the opportunity and that is the reason I committed my future. Everyone has been great with me, from the fans to the staff to the players, so it was an easy decision. I'm happy with how everything is going."

Sturridge's contract extension could not have been timed better, with the Reds in dire need of a morale-booster after a string of bad results. And boost morale it did, as you will tell from the following fan reactions on Twitter...
