Cesc vs Ozil: Who did Premier League fans vote they'd rather have?

Ozil Arsenal 5

The two Premier League stars were pitted against each other in a vote, days before Chelsea and Arsenal meet.

With Arsenal set to take on Chelsea this weekend, one Blues player will be under the microscope a little more than others.

Cesc Fabregas will play against former club Arsenal for Jose Mourinho's side, and will come up against the man many think was the reason Arsene Wenger didn't re-sign the Spaniard, 24-year-old Germany international Mesut Ozil.

Sky Sports organised a poll to see which of the two talented playmakers football fans would rather have in their side, and the results were closer than may have been expected, with Cesc Fabregas edging it with 52% to Ozil's 48%.

Fabregas is somewhat of an Arsenal legend having broken into the Gunners first team as a 16-year-old a decade ago. However, any allegiance to the Spanish international has been tempered somewhat by his decision to join London rivals Chelsea this summer after Barcelona agreed to offload the midfielder.

Arsenal's record signing Mesut Ozil has suffered a mixed time since arriving at the Emirates last year, with many Gunners faithful feeling he is yet to completely justify his £42.5 million fee. The German World Cup winner scored 7 goals in 40 games during his first season in the red and white of Arsenal, and has scored once so far this campaign.

Fabregas has also netted on time this season, but leads the league when it comes to assists with 6, compared to Ozil's single set up.

The two have of course faced each other when playing at La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, yet Sunday will be the first time they they compete while at their London sides.

And the final whistle on Sunday may be the only time one could truly be deemed more valuable than the other.
