Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado believes the club's need to win, can lift them past Southampton.

The Spaniard is impressed with this weekend's opposition, who have won four straight games.

Yet he feels Spurs are more hungry, needing a result to build on last weekend's draw away to Arsenal.

He told the club website: "I think they’ve shown that they can win against difficult teams and it’s just been ‘win, win, win’ for them. They have won their last four matches in the Premier League and are through in the Capital One Cup.

“Their position in the league table is good but, after the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend, we now need a win and three points.”

For Spurs, losing would suddenly put them off the pace in the Premier League. Currently in 8th place, they are just two points above the team in 16th, Hull City.

Southampton meanwhile are sailing high in second place, and will still be well-positioned, win, lose, or draw.

A victory would stretch their lead over Spurs to eight points, while a Tottenham win would cut the five point gap to two.
