Under-fire Prandelli: We were too passive against Arsenal

Galatasaray

The pressure on Galatasaray boss Cesare Prandelli continues to grow and the Italian boss gave his opinion on where it went wrong against Arsenal.

Galatasaray were outclassed against Arsenal and boss Cesare Prandelli has some tough questions to answer after their 4-1 defeat.

Prandelli left the Italian national job after a poor World Cup campaign and joined the Turkish giants, but the transition hasn't been entirely smooth.

A defeat against minnows Balikesirspor caused outrage and Prandelli has struggled to find a formation or tactics that work.

Despite boldly predicting his side could challenge Arsenal, Galatasaray weren't in the same league and Prandelli was left trying to explain why his team had flopped in London.

"We were too passive," Prandelli explained on Sky. "We allowed Arsenal too far up the field and we had very little possession.

"The Champions League is very hard for us and we knew that but we couldn't afford to lack aggression.

"I don't think it was a question of mentality or formation - we are trying to find the right balance."

Galatasaray must now shock German giants Borussia Dortmund if they are to relaunch their Champions League campaign. They host Dortmund on October 22.
