Sherwood: This ruined my time with Tottenham, and it could bring down Pochettino's team

Tim Sherwood has warned Tottenham Hotspur to cut out the individual errors.

Defender Vlad Chiriches made a disastrous individual error which led to Tottenham failing to secure all three points against Besiktas in the Europa League.

Chiriches misjudged a long ball, taking a wild swing, and when it bounced behind him he handled the ball in the penalty area, with Demba Ba cancelling out Harry Kane's opener from the penalty spot.

Speaking after the game, former Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood lambasted the side's lack of concentration.

He told ITV4: "An individual error cost them again. There were 20 individual errors last season which led to goals.

"They have got to eliminate that or they will find themselves in a very difficult situation."

Tottenham actually made 21 errors last season leading to goals, 14 of which came under Tim Sherwood's management.

Stacked up against the rest of the teams in the league, as a whole, and during Sherwood's time in charge, it was the worst in the league.

This season across the opening six games, Spurs have made only one crucial error, while Everton have made five.

It's difficult to assess whether Sherwood was attempting to absolve himself of blame for Spurs missing out on Champions League football last season by pointing his finger at his players, or simply holding his hand up.

Either way, it's a trend Spurs fans won't be keen to repeat, as nobody likes to see games decided by horrendous defending like Vlad Chiriches' 'efforts' last night.
