A number of Nathaniel Clyne's past and former Southampton teammates have reacted positively to his call-up to the England side.
The full-back was named as part of Roy Hodgson's Three Lions squad to take on Estonia and San Marino in Euro 2016 qualifying today and it is a move that has gone down well with Southampton players of past and present.
Clyne has been overlooked for a sustained period of time after putting a number of credible displays in for the side, but his form of late has been too much for Hodgson to ignore.
With his manager Ronald Koeman vocalising his support for the 23-year-old to be given international recognition last month, it seems the England boss listened and gave the Dutchman his wish.
It was also a move which delighted Clyne and he took to Twitter to react to the news.
I'm delighted to get the England call up it's a proud moment for me and I can't wait to get started.— Nathaniel Clyne (@Nathaniel_Clyne) October 2, 2014
It was the same action which a number of his friends did, too, to share their joy at the news.
Jose Fonte, Matt Targett, Shane Long, Jose Fonte and even departed Saints man Luke Shaw were amongst the well-wishers and Clyne will be hoping to impress.
The right-back aiming to stake his claim for a permanent place in what has become a problem position for the side.
Kyle Walker and Glen Johnson are out injured, whilst Micah Richards is out of the country and Clyne now seems the stand-out choice to fill the starting berth in Hodgson's team.
He will be hoping to prove that he has the credentials to do it in the upcoming fixtures and the tweets from his teammates should fill him with confidence.
