Last night saw Arsenal deal out a thrashing to Galatasaray in the Champions League. The North Londoners tore the three-man backline of the Turkish giants to shreds with their pace and ruthlessness in front of goal doing the job.
But of course the star of the show was Danny Welbeck.
The England international scored his first career hat-trick in the game - as he continues to impress since his £16 million move from Manchester United.
United's decision to sell Welbeck caused much division when it happened. His departure saw many happy to see the back of a player who never quite filled expectations at Old Trafford. Others felt it was bad news for the development of the United side. As they replaced the local lad with Radamel Falcao on loan, some questioned whether United had lost touch with their identity.
Last night's performance then would have angered anyone who has backed Welbeck in the past, one of those being Rio Ferdinand.
The former Manchester United defender has already made it clear he feels letting Welbeck go was a mistake from his former club, and he seemed to echo those sentiments in this Tweet this morning:
Missed the football last night.....Welbeck hat trick just winded me ! Trust me he will keep getting better #development— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) October 2, 2014
Ferdinand has been a team-mate of Welbeck's at United and seeing him score three times last night has clearly irked the now QPR defender.
United's loss is starting to appear to be very much Arsenal's gain. And if last night is anything to go on Ferdinand will be Tweeting his disappointment again in the near future.
