Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 2nd October 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 2nd October 2013…
What's the Mata?
Mata was having a rough patch at Chelsea, caused mainly by his inability to adapt to Jose Mourinho's new system.
The Spanish playmaker was simply not Mourinho's cup of tea, and therefore struggled to hit the heights of previous seasons under the Portuguese boss.
But he claimed he could still pull out all the stops:
"I try to improve every season, my first and second seasons were fantastic but I want this one to be even better so I will try to improve, score goals, assist and do what I have to do. I'm not the kind of man that gets down. I always believe in myself and train really hard. This is my way to behave, to be positive as much as I can.
"I have really enjoyed playing for this club in the last two seasons. I know what I can give to the team and I'm just trying to do that."
Of course that did not happen. Mata failed to establish himself under Mourinho and joined Manchester United in January.
Can we have him Wel-back?
A year ago today and guess who was the hero for Manchester United? That's right - Danny Welbeck.
The England international scored for David Moyes' team in a tough European tie away to Shakhtar Donetsk.
United were dominated for much of the game and had Welbeck's goal to thank for not losing the game after Taison hammered home for the home side.
A year later and Welbeck is at it again - only this time for Arsenal. He of course scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray in the Champions League last night.
