Le Tissier: This player will feel hard done by after Townsend call-up

Danny Graham And Nathan Dyer

Swansea star Nathan Dyer has been one of the best English wingers so far this season.

One Premier League legend took issue with Roy Hodgson's recently announced England squad for the upcoming games with San Marino and Estonia.

Matthew Le Tissier mentioned Swansea star Nathan Dyer as having good reason to have been selected ahead of Andros Townsend based on form.

Le Tissier knows better than most how hard it is to break into the England setup, with the Guernsey born Saints legend winning just 8 caps for his country despite being one of the most technically gifted players of his generation.

Dyer, who has caught the eye for Swansea in their four years in the Premier League, has been especially impressive so far this season, having netted 3 times already.

With England call ups for players at Welsh and Scottish clubs hard to come by, the former Saints graduate may nevertheless be disappointed not to have been given a chance for the Three Lions, especially after the likes of Townsend, who has barely featured in the Premier League this season, continues to be picked by Roy Hodgson.

The 26-year-old has 17 goals in England's top flight, and has continued to grow with every passing season in South Wales. Comparatively, Townsend has had a couple of superb spells in his short career, but has struggled to claim a regular first team spot at White Hart Lane in 2014. Importantly for the Spurs player though, he was given a chance to turn out for his country while on form, and did well in his first couple of England appearances, seemingly becoming a favourite of Hodgson.
