Juventus failed to impress in their loss to Atletico Madrid after refusing to inject any pace and appearing to play for a 0-0 draw.
Juventus came close to holding Atletico Madrid before Arda Turan struck 15 minutes from time, but the Italians were left to rue not making more of an effort to win.
The mission was always going to be a tough one for Massimiliano Allegri, bringing Juventus to Atletico in search of a result, but the former AC Milan boss' approach was questionable.
Prior to the game, Juventus hadn't conceded this season, so Allegri may have fancied his chances of grabbing a 0-0 draw, but the Bianconeri's lack of ambition instead invited trouble.
Seemingly daunted by Atletico's counterattacking style, Juventus simply didn't attack, but that uninspiring, somewhat cowardly tactic backfired once Turan opened the scoring late on.
JUVENTUS PLAYER RATINGS
Gigi Buffon 6.5: There was nothing he could do to prevent his unbeaten season slipping away. Made some smart saves.
Stephan Lichtsteiner 7: Pugnacious in defence and provided Juventus' one chance of the night when he pulled the ball back in the box to be deflected just wide by Raul Garcia.
Patrice Evra 6.5: A decent performance on the whole, more of an attacking threat in the first half.
Martin Cáceres 6: Nearly scored an own goal when he blocked a Turan shot, but was solid enough.
Leonardo Bonucci 5: Didn't play well, gave the ball away too often and got booked for a silly challenge.
Giorgio Chiellini 5: Must take some responsibility for the goal and otherwise looked fragile.
Roberto Pereyra (from 78 mins) 6.5: Only on for 12 minutes, but interacted with Lichtsteiner to create the slight chance of a Juventus goal and showed more energy.
Arturo Vidal 5: Just wasn't himself, ineffectual and off the pace.
Claudio Marchisio 6.5: Hardly an Andrea Pirlo performance but he tried to make things happen.
Paul Pogba 6: The game didn't suit him but he curled a decent shot close to the target.
Alvaro Morata 5 (from 83 mins): Not much he could do on an unhappy return to Spain. Managed to get in an argument and could have even been sent off.
Fernando Llorente 5: Didn't really come that close to the net and looked laboured.
Carlos Tevez 6: Worked hard and saw a couple of half-chances charged down.
