Juventus boss in live TV rant at pundit Sacchi

Tempers flared after Juventus lost to Atletico Madrid with coach Massimiliano Allegri responding angrily to criticism from Arrigo Sacchi.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri wasn't happy to hear legendary coach Arrigo Sacchi suggest he hadn't managed the game against Atletico Madrid correctly and he let rip on live TV.

The Italian champions fell to their first defeat of the season after conceding their first goal of the current campaign away to Atletico.

Although Juventus looked solid and nearly managed to pick up what would have been an impressive point in Madrid, the Old Lady's cautious approach has been criticised by some, such as Sacchi.

"Juventus gave the feeling of wanting to take the draw without ever really trying to win," Sacchi said on the Mediaset TV channel.

But Allegri heard Sacchi's comment and responded in a fiery fashion, letting out a tirade.

"We played to draw? We must have been watching different games," he rasped.

"We have two different footballing mentalities. Juventus played to win. And Atletico make you play badly because they refuse to run the game, even when they are at home. They sit and wait. Plus they are very good at committing many could without getting booked.

"We had three of four good positions that we didn't take advantage of in the second half."

Juventus are still widely expected to progress from their group after beating Malmo in their first game.
