Sheffield Wednesday's Joe Mattock says that the Owls will need to be wary of Leeds United at the weekend as they have added motivation because of the result between the two sides last season.
Wednesday beat Leeds 6-0 at Hillsborough in the previous campaign and Mattock believes that Leeds will be looking for revenge when they face them for the first time since that humiliating day.
The match promises to be a feisty affair between the two Yorkshire rivals and Mattock is under no illusions as to how tough it was be to get a result.
“Hopefully, it can be a similar outcome to when we last played Leeds," he said to the Yorkshire Post. "We want the three points for the fans but there will be a backlash from Leeds. It was a bit of an embarrassment for them.
“But they will be out of the traps at us. They have done well this year, too. They have a strong side so will be up for it. But so will we.”
Leeds look a stronger team this around than they did last season so a repeat scoreline would be a rather surprising result, but Wednesday will be looking to capitalise on the momentum that the Whites have lost in recent times.
Under caretaker boss Neil Redfearn, Leeds had taken 10 of their last 12 points, but since appointing Darko Milanic they have collected just one out of six.
A 0-0 draw against Reading last night was another disappointment after they lost to Brentford at the weekend and Milanic is already under pressure to pick up his first win.
Wednesday, meanwhile, have also faltered rather after making a very good start.
The Owls are now winless in three after making a promising start to the season and they will be looking to get their campaign back on track by claiming a win at Elland Road at the weekend.
