Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has hailed Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, and believes the recent criticism of him will bring out his best form.
Ozil took a battering from critics after a slow start to the season, but has shone since being played back in his preferred position through the centre, after an experiment out wide.
Chelsea come up against the Gunners this weekend, and Schurrle believes in his international teammate to be a real threat.
“Mesut is a player who needs the pressure a little bit. He needs the pressure to perform.
“He is a great player. He is everything that you need in his position when he plays no.10. He can play the pass and he can score.
"He is always important for our team because he can play in every second a brilliant pass or score a goal. So I think the critics have been a little bit harsh on him. He is a brilliant player."
Despite both playing five games each this season, Schurrle has been used mainly as a substitute, yet still scored a goal more. However it is international teammate Ozil's creatibity which shines, with 11 key passes to the Chelsea star's two.
Despite Ozil missing the game at Stamford Bridge last year, Chelsea know all about him, not only thanks to Schurrle but his former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who you can bet is already hatching a plan to try to limit his powers.
